# Restore private balance

Import a recovery note in Withdraw and wait for Nullark to show the balance you can use.

The **Withdraw** panel starts with **Private balance**. Paste an untouched `nullark1_...` note or use **Import .txt**, then select **Restore**. Screen readers announce the action as **Restore balance**.

Nullark checks the note automatically. You do not need to inspect contract data or calculate the balance yourself.

## Restore one note

### Check the network

Use the same network where the deposit was made.

### Load the note

Paste the untouched note under **Private balance**, or choose **Import .txt**.

### Select Restore

Keep the page open while **Finding private balance** runs.

### Read the result

Continue when the expected `ETH available` amount appears. **Scan complete** and **Recovered** mean the search finished.

## What the messages mean

| Message | Meaning | Next step |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `Finding private balance` | Nullark is still checking | Wait; do not import again |
| `Scan complete` and `Recovered` | Search finished | Read the available amount |
| `ETH available` | Balance is ready | Continue to withdrawal |
| `No private balance found` | This browser did not find a balance it can use | Check network and saved note |
| Error message | Restore stopped | Keep the original note and follow the shown message |

## If the balance is missing

1. Check the visible network banner.
2. Use the original downloaded or copied note without editing it.
3. If **Finding private balance** is still visible, wait. Do not select **Restore** again.
4. If the balance is still missing after **Scan complete**, keep the note and use [Troubleshooting](/use/troubleshooting.md). Do not clear browser storage.

Your private balance is separate from your wallet balance and from the total shown in **Activity**.
